Biography
My name is Shelli and I studied nursing and graduated from Purdue University. Over my 20 year career as a registered nurse, I have worked in a variety of settings: hospitals, doctor’s offices and school nursing. I also served as a public health education volunteer in the United States Peace Corps in Madagascar and also worked as a nurse in New Zealand.
I completed my certification in Whole Health Education and Whole Health Coaching for Nurses from the National Institute for Whole Health in 2016. This program focuses on the 5 aspects that impact health: Physical, Environmental, Emotional, Nutritional, and Spiritual.
My passion is providing education to empower individuals to make their own health care decisions. My experiences helped lead me to this passion. I believe that the ability to achieve good health and maintain health is within all of us. I have seen different types of healthcare delivery systems and came to the conclusion that the only person that is in charge of your health is you. Dependence upon ever increasing costs from our health care system rather than addressing the root cause of illness can lead to more stress from the financial burden as well as side effects from medications. Our bodies have the ability to heal.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two boys. I also enjoy reading and spending time in nature whether it’s gardening, tending to our 6 chickens or hiking. My family and I are fans of American Ninja Warrior and we love to create obstacles for our children to tackle.
